Letter Boxed

Letter Boxed Rules and How to Play

Connect letters around the square into words, then chain those words until all 12 letters have been used.

What is Letter Boxed?

Letter Boxed is a word puzzle on a square. Each side holds 3 letters, 12 in total. You chain words until every letter has been used at least once.

How do you play Letter Boxed?

Each word must be at least 3 letters and appear in this site's word list. Consecutive letters cannot come from the same side. The next word must start with the last letter of the previous word. Letters can repeat later in a word and in later words.

What is a good score?

Fewer words is better. Each daily board on this site has a par between 4 and 6 words, which is the length of the shortest chain in our word list.

Is this the New York Times puzzle?

No. This site publishes its own daily board and uses the same square-and-chain rules. It does not show the New York Times puzzle or that puzzle's official solution.

When does the daily puzzle change?

A new board is published each day at midnight in New York (America/New_York).

Where is today's answer?

The full chain for today's board is on the answers page. Hints show only the word count and the first letter.

Can I play more than one board?

Unlimited mode loads extra boards. Those games are not saved and do not change your daily streak.
